Little Dazzler Doll: Veronica

Just finished another doll to add to our growing collection of patterns. This is Veronica, she is larger than my other dolls and She stands at 17 inches (43 cms).

The doll itself is knitted in DK yarn, hair is knitted in garter stitch and sewn in place. There is a choice of two hairstyles, ringlets or two buns and both are finished off with two cute little hair bows.

Her pretty dress is knitted in 4ply yarn and is removable. It fastens at the back with two buttons and a little bow at the waist band.

You can have lots of fun choosing the yarn and matching various colours. For the pink doll I used Bo Peep 4ply yarn which is a mottled pink and grey that knitted up beautifully and gave a very pretty effect.

For the doll with ringlets I used an old favourite of mine for the dress, King Cole Spot 4ply. It always looks good knitted up next to a contrasting colour.

Of course she can look just as good in a plain 4 ply yarn.

All pieces are knitted flat on two needles and sewn together. The pattern is a 23 page PDF document with row by row instructions and plenty of images to help with construction. The pattern can be purchased on Etsy, Ravelry and Lovecrafts

Little Dazzler Elephant: Edwin

The pattern for Ella’s twin brother Edwin is now complete. I’ve been trying to get it finished for ages but Christmas and family visits got in the way.

Edwin is a cheeky little elephant 12 inches (31 cms) tall and knitted in DK yarn, on 4mm needles. His clothes also in DK are knitted on 3.75mm and 3.25mm needles.

The play overalls and little cardigan are removeable so a few more outfits will add extra play value for the child and let you go wild finding interesting colour combinations from your stash.

Cute little elephants have become as much a staple in the traditional nursery as the teddy bear and they are just as fun to make and no doubt be treasured for years to come.

Lily and Monty

Lily is the latest doll in my collection of patterns. With Autumn on the horizon I thought I’d create a doll that was well wrapped up against the cooler days as she takes her cute little puppy Monty out for his daily walks.

Lily is a 13 inch (34 cms) doll knitted in DK yarn on 4mm needles. Her hair is knitted in reverse stocking stitch and sewn in place with strands of yarn added for plaiting (braiding).

Dress, hat and Jacket also in DK yarn are removable, which always adds to the play value of the doll, and you can always make another set in a different colour for her to change into.

Little puppy Monty is knitted in reverse stocking stitch in DK yarn and has his own lead which loops over the doll’s hand.

Lily and Monty would make a great project for the Autumn months and she could be one Christmas present taken care of.

The pattern is a 30 page document which gives row by row instructions to knit the doll, her clothes and little puppy with plenty of photos to help with construction. The pattern is available from Ravelry and Etsy

Teddy’s Wheels

For quite some time now I have wanted to make a little car with a teddy bear sitting comfortably inside. After several attempts I finally created something I am happy with.

This cute little bear with overalls and scarf is 7inches (18 cms) and is knitted in DK yarn on 3.25mm needles. The Car which is 15cms (6 inches) in length is knitted on 4mm. needles using two strands of DK yarn held and knitted together to give it a sturdy shape. If you don’t want to fiddle about with using the two strands of yarn, any chunky yarn (12ply) can be used.

All the pieces are knitted flat on two needles and pieces sewn together.

You can embellish the front of the car with buttons for headlights etc.

The little bear fits snuggly into the car…..

All ready for a test drive.

Of course once you have made one, they can become addictive. It would make an ideal first car toy for baby or a decorative piece for the nursery.

The pattern is a 21 page PDF document giving row by row instructions and plenty of images to help with construction and is available on Etsy and Ravelry

Girls Night In !

Nothing cuter than teddy bears in bed and with this knitting pattern you can create a few so your little one can arrange sleepovers with them!

Tessa Bear stands at 8 inches (21 cms) and is knitted in DK yarn on 3.25mm needles.

She has her own dress and cardigan and nightdress, which are all removable and knitted in 4ply on 3mm needles.

She comes with her own comfy bed knitted in DK in one piece with a double moss stitch pattern for the top cover. Her pillow and top cover have a lacy edging.

During lockdown I knitted lots of these teddies, they are an excellent project for using up yarn from your stash.

You can have so much fun pairing up colours, which I always find the enjoyable part.

All pieces are knitted flat on two needles and sewn together.

The pattern is a 25 page PDF document giving row by row instructions and plenty of images to help with construction. It is available from Ravelry and Etsy

Happy knitting everybody

Nautical Bunnies

This week I decided to take another break from knitting  little coats and hats and create  a little character instead. Opted this time for a couple of rabbits rather than a teddy bear.

Bunnies

Since summer is upon us I decided to go for a nautical theme and created Sammy and Susie the seaside bunnies. I used leftover yarn I had in my stash, all DK. Picked out blues, white and reds to get that nautical look, I was worried at one point they would look a bit too Gallic, but a pair of French bunnies would have been just as cute.

Susie was the first bunny to be made and measures 9 inches from the tips of her ears.

Susie Bunnie

Her legs and body are knitted in one piece, arms are knitted separately and attached. With this type of rabbit you can change the type of leggings, socks and jumper so you can create a different rabbit everytime. The little pinafore is knitted separately and is removeable so she could come with her own little wardrobe.

Sammy is based on the same pattern. I knitted a couple of more rows for the legs so he would come out slightly taller.

All his little clothes are knitted separately. Enjoyed knitting his little jumper, loved the anchor it gave the right touch to the nautical theme.

Sammy Bunny

I would have liked his shorts to have been a bit baggier, I may need to add more stitches next time around or perhaps not stuff his legs as much!!

Overall I was pleased with the way they turned out, especially when they are both together as they look very much a pair.

Just hope there is a breeze on the beach, because with all their woollies these poor little bunnies might fry!

Another Knitted Teddy

Well I don’t think you can have enough teddies in a collection and I do love making them. Took a break over the last few days fron making some baby jackets and created Daisy May

Daisy May Bear

She is a blue-eyed bear measuring 12 inches and dressed in her best.

I used the same pattern that I used to knit the Hannah and Joey bears last month, but used a chunky yarn and knitted her on 5mm needles. It’s amazing just how much bigger she came out. The pink  Daisy dress and  blue shoes are also a chunky yarn and knitted up very quickly.  So the littles bears now have a big sister!

Three Sisters

Just finished the three sisters, no not the Chekhov classic. Nothing Russian about these gals, but pure Lancashire lasses who claim a kinship to the Cumbrian trio Flopsy Mopsy and Cottontail! Let me introduce you to Rosie, Buttercup and Blubelle.

I’ll leave you to work out who is who! Since spring is upon us and Easter just around the corner thought is would be ideal to knit some rabbits and little ducks to keep up with the season. These well dressed girls are from a Debbie Birken pattern.

Really easy to knit up and each one takes on a unique character of her own. They can be knitted in an array of colour combinations and they have a removeable pinafore.  Make an ideal gift for Easter accompanied with an Easter egg or two. As friends on Ravelry have pointed out little boys like rabbits too so must make some with little boy outfits as well.

There is something so appealing about rabbits and mice dressed as humans, is this just an English trait or are other cultures the same? must research this! Well the poor girls are exhausted after their photoshoot, they need a little rest.
