Bianca Bunny and Friends

Who can resist a bunny in a little dress and cardigan? Even when knitted from the same pattern each one has their own character, so cute and homely and a wonderful gift to make.

Here Come the Girls!

Dolls 2

Next to rabbits my favourite thing to knit are dolls. They take a bit longer and you can agonise over getting the face and hair just right but it can be so worth it when you have the finished result.

All the above dolls are 13 inches (34 cms) tall and all knitted in DK including the clothes. You can have a free reign with styles and colour combinations which add to the fun of making them.

Hannah Doll 4

I love the self patterning yarns which give a fair isle effect, it certainly takes away the hassle of carrying different strands of yarn at the back of your work which for me always plays havoc with the tension.

Hannah 6

I do prefer to make the dolls with a knitted scull cap for the hair which is firmly attached to the head, and on to this can can be added plaits, ringlets or loose strands of yarn.

Doll Eleanor

I do expect my dolls to be played with and feel confident this way the hair will always stay in place and not come away if the doll is lifted up by the hair.

Doll and Teddy 2

You can also have fun making little accessories to go with the dolls, such as bags, little teddy bears and even knitted dogs.

Penny & Pip

They all add to making the doll unique and increase the play value, or even the collect ability as not just children love to receive dolls!!

More Easter Gifts

Continuing on the theme of knitting for Easter, nothing conjures up images of Spring more than little lambs in a field.

Leanna Lamb

Leanna Lamb 6

This little lamb knitted in white and cream with pink inner ears would make a lovely gift for a spring baby.

Leanna Lamb 3

She turned out a good size, 14 inches standing and 9 inches in a sitting position, all knitted in a DK yarn including the dress. The soft feminine colours would be ideal for a little girl’s nursery.

More Bunnies

Well it wouldn’t be spring or Easter without the bunny and these two are my favourite ones to make.

Bunny Twins

Both boy and girl bunny are from the same pattern, on the boy I changed to a white yarn for the tips of the ears and the muzzle to add variation.

Easter Girl Bunny 5

Love making the little clothes for these bunnies, you can have such a lot of fun choosing colour combinations.

Easter Boy Bunny 4

They are both 13 inches tall to the tips of their ears, so a good size, and a cuddly little gift to give along with an Easter Egg.

Knitted Gifts for Easter

Mama and Baby Bunny

Pram Bunny 5

Weather is cold and miserable here at the moment. It is pouring down which is good, as it will hopefully clear the snow we had yesterday.

I find one of the best ways to get through January and February is to focus on Spring and use the ‘bad weather’ days to get creative and knit some gifts for Easter. There are some wonderful patterns out there for rabbits, chicks and little Lambs.

Pram Bunny 10

Just finished this cute little ensemble which would look wonderful as a centre piece in an Easter basket. It was knitted in DK yarn on 4mm and 3mm needles. It was all knitted flat so quite a bit of fiddly sewing involved but it does produce a sturdy enough toy for a little one to play with.

Pram Bunny 3 DSC01035

The mother bunny is 9 inches (23cms) in height and the baby bunny is 2.5 inches (7 cms)

Pram Bunny 6

The pram comes with mattress, little pillow and blanket. It measures 5.5 inches (14 cms) high and 6 inches (16cms) in length.

Pram Bunny 4 Pram Bunny 8

just the right size to accommodate the little bunny.

Pram Bunny 7 The hood, handle and wheels are all knitted separately and attached to the body of the pram.

Although fiddly I think it turned out quite a cute project.

Millie the Midwife

Well here is a serious little bunny who is very career minded and has become a nurse.

nurse-bunny

In fact she is a midwife, would imagine there is a great demand for her services among the rabbit population.

nurse-bunny-3

Millie is 11″ and knitted in DK including her uniform. I know nurses don’t dress like this anymore, but nothing says nurse more than the starched apron, the armbands and nurses cap. I remember as a child receiving an outfit like this nearly every Christmas!

nurse-bunny-4

The little Moses basket is 5″ in length and has  little pillow and mattress and there is a little blanket to wrap around the tiny baby bunny.

nurse-bunny-2

It makes a cute  play set for a little girl, especially one who is about to become a big sister.

nurse-bunny-1

She is a very caring and trustworthy little bunny.

Here Come the Bunnies

I have been working on some rabbits  over the past few months and I must admit a dressed bunny is definitely my knit of choice.

Poppy

dscn5977

This 11″rabbit knitted in DK on 4mm needles has a lovely white dress with a fair-isle poppy motif.

dscn5985

She has a matching cardigan and little shoulder bag.

So she is ready to hit the town for some serious shopping.

Belinda

belinda-bunny-1

Belinda is knitted from the same pattern.

bunny-and-bag-2

Her dress has a pretty check pattern, instead of a cardigan she has a little bolero…

…and again a matching bag for her shopping.

Summer

blue-bunny-3

Another bunny from the same pattern, I just love playing about with different colour combinations for the outfits.

Daisy

This little dancer comes with her own ballet wrap.

Of course what little girl can’t resist a ballerina bunny!

Teds in Bed

amber-bear

There is nothing sweeter than a little teddy bear all tucked up in bed. This project was all done in DK yarn on 4mm needles, and didn’t take long at all. The most time consuming piece was the knitting bag which was all knitted in one piece including the attached pillow.

amber-bear-4

It’s just the right size for a little girl to play with. The bear is 8 inches, her little teddy is 3 inches and the sleeping bag itself when finished is 9 inches in length.

amber-bear-2

The bear has a cute little candy striped nightdress and little bow.

amber-bear-1

The sleeping bag has a stuffed pillow at the top and appliqued bears sewn on the central panel. It was knitted in one piece, folded and sewn in place.

amber-bear-5

Both little bears fit snugly inside, all ready to be taken on a sleepover at Nana’s
