Polly the Polar Bear

Just finished this darling bear who will be going as a gift to a baby girl due to arrive in early December.

We thought long and hard about what to make and decided on a bear, rather than the traditional matinee coat set. Hopefully  Polly will become a favourite and be around for many years to come. She is a pattern from Mary Jane’s Tearoom which has has some seriously cute patterns.

The bear isn’t a quick knit and there is a lot of sewing involved when putting her together but the instructions with the pattern were first class and she is well worth the effort.

The head and body with shoes and socks are knitted in DK and the clothes are in 4ply.

DSCN3779The little polo neck jumper and shorts are beautiful and fit perfectly, a lot of thought has gone into the construction of this pattern. I used 7mm safety eyes but if you prefer you can easily embroider the eyes yourself.

She stands at 18″ so a nice size bear

In fact big enough to get up to a lot of mischief!!

She was a lot of fun to make and put together. I shall be handing her over this weekend and I have a feeling that won’t be easy to do!
