More for the Toy Box

I have been working on a few more toys that will come in handy for gifts for the Christmas season. I must admit I do get a lot more satisfaction in creating a little character than knitting up a hat and coat set.

In the last couple of weeks I’ve made a couple of rabbits and two little elephants. The elephants are so cute and very much a matching pair.

They are knitted from just oddments of DK wool and are from a Jean Greenhowe pattern. They measure just over 5″ so a lovely gift for a small baby as they can fit snuggly in the corner of a cot or Moses basket. As they are small they take no time to knit but are quite fiddly to assemble but well worth the effort!

Just to prove a bunny isn’t just for Easter, I made one sporting the traditional Christmas jumper

So here is Hazel looking warm and festive in her Christmas tree jersey.

I used the basic Debi Birken pattern for Bunty Bunny, and knitted her jumper and skirt separatley. For the jumper I knitted a tree in the middle and made french knots with different coloured yarn for the baubles to create a Christmas Tree effect.

Next we have Jack another little bunny, nicely co-ordinated with turquoise jumper and baggy overalls

Think he would make a lovely gift for a little boy.

He is the same pattern as the bunny above, but turned out so different, I love the way they all end up being so unique.

Time now to plan what to make over the next few weeks
