Happy New Year, and thank you for reading. January can be an exciting time, with the whole year ahead it’s a good time to set goals and have a plan to bring all those creative ideas to fruition. I’ve made my list for 2014 so feeling quite positive and organised, although I’d be the first to admit that could all change by February!!
During the busy Christmas period I managed to steal a bit of quality knitting time to finish two little projects I had started. So these are the last projects of 2013 rather than the first of 2014. I used the same pattern to create both.
Little Ballet Wrap
This sweet little ribbon wrap is for a baby 0-3 months, done in DK garter stitch it was an unbelievably quick and easy to knit up. It would look pretty over a special dress or even a baby grow.
The inner front piece is secured by a button fastening, so as the baby grows the position of the button can be altered for the baby to get a bit more wear from it.
The outer front piece is wrapped over and secured by a ribbon fastening. I chose a pink gingham ribbon, which I think looks quite fresh and pretty, and it breaks up all that pink. Of course I had to make some little shoes to match and decorated them with matching gingham bows.
This little wrap was from the same pattern but to fit a baby 6-12 months. I decided to knit the edging in a contrasting colour so the lacy pattern would stand out more. This one has short sleeves so would be ideal for the summer.
Again the inner front piece is secured in place by a button fastening.
The outer front piece on this garment is wrapped over and secured by another button rather than a ribbon. I thought this would be a better fastening for an older baby as little hands do like to pull!
They were both quick and easy to knit up and turned out quite pretty as well. Just love knitting clothes for girls.
One of my goals for 2014 is to knit more items for boys.
